In our society, the criminal justice system has a troubling tendency to dehumanize the incarcerated population. It devours their individuality, replacing names with numbers, and brands them with a stigma that persists long after their release.
This ordeal often leads to a cycle of re-incarceration, contributing to the soaring recidivism rates in our country.
Here at NJS, we believe in a different approach. We question a system that robs someone of their humanity and yet expects them to reintegrate into society seamlessly.
